AHDI Celebrates Children by joining the World in Commemorating World Children’s Day which Falls on November 20 Every Year.

President Hakainde Hichilema says, “Math's & English shouldn’t be the barometer used to measure intelligence of our children. Instead, we encourage schools to devise curricula that encourage talents like Art, Music & others. Entrepreneurship & financial literacy must be included as critical tools for learners.” This is something that we have to take into serious consideration in our hope to rethink the future of education. This entails championing choice through creation of an equitable and conducive environment for all despite their conditions.

According to the Convention on the Rights of Children with Disabilities (CRPD), all children with disabilities must enjoy their rights on an equal basis with other children. The CRPD also states that these children should not be excluded from the general education system and should access health services that are as close to their homes as possible. The true position in Zambia is that these children with cerebral palsy and others with allied conditions do not enjoy their rights on an equal basis with others. Therefore, there is serious need for interventions to enhance their enjoyment of all their rights.

The AHDI exists to work towards ensuring that each child in Zambia that is living with the condition of CP or other allied conditions gets to have the opportunity to live a fulfilling, whole, self-reliant life in close relation to other people.
